Michigan Gaming Control Board has recently approved issuing provisional permits for fifteen platform providers to support the tribal casinos’ and commercial casinos online for sports and gaming betting offerings.
The launch is expected sometime in mid-January. The approved casinos will have to provide added regulatory requirements, which includes the platform’s independent testing. They also need to validate their internal controls and apply for the MGCB approval that ensures the integrity aspect of gaming. Besides these requirements, they will have to provide a list of employees and their relevant occupational licenses.

Those authorized must meet additional administrative conditions, including an independent assessment of games and platforms and MGCB sanction of their core controls, to ensure the gaming reliability. The businesses must also obtain industrial authorizations for certain employees. MGCB has issued a provisional license to FanDuel and BetMGM, who have a state retail sportsbook partnership besides Greektown Casino, Penn Sports Interactive through Barstool, MotorCity Casino, and MGM Grand Detroit.
They have allowed the following noteworthy a provisional license American Wagering / William Hill Sports Book, Crown MI Gaming (DraftKings), Gan Nevada, Churchill Downs Interactive Gaming -TwinSpires, Golden Nugget Online Gaming, Parx Interactive, NYX Digital Gaming, PointsBet Michigan, Sports Information Services -Kambi, Rush Street Interactive MI, TSG Interactive US Services- Fox Bet, and WSI US – Wynn Sports. MGCB accepted the applications and has communicated the licensing requirements, besides reviewing the branding submissions and internal controls from the interested operators, gaming technology platform providers, and vendors and suppliers.
MGCB executive director, Richard Kalm, said that MGCB could approve the licenses’ after the casinos have filed with the Great Seal office as per the managerial rules regarding online sports and gaming betting on the 2nd of December.
