BetMGM received a license as the official state to begin sports betting on Thursday in Arizona, the business stated.
The state license, approved by the Arizona Department of Gaming, would allow anybody in Arizona to use BetMGM’s app for sports betting once regulated sports betting begins on 9th September. As a result of the announcement, BetMGM is now one of the first firms in the state to provide mobile sports betting.
Ada Greenblatt, the CEO of BetMGM, says that it is quite exciting to get an official license to run sports betting in a region like Arizona.
BetMGM will begin the pre-registration for its app in Arizona on 28th August, and the firm aims to operate retail sportsbooks at three different Arizona Gila River facilities and at State Farm Stadium, which is also the personal space for Arizona Cardinals, in addition to the launch of its mobile platform.
The company has some promising plans for sports betting fans in Arizona, and with the agreements with Gila River and the Arizona Cardinals, there will be more benefits after connecting to different properties of MGM Resorts nationwide. This also includes allowing sports betting bitcoin.
Legalized betting is slated to begin in Arizona next month, and the Arizona Department of Gaming will be issuing more licenses to betting companies prior to that date. BetMGM is the third company to announce a betting license in Arizona, following FanDuel and Penn National/Barstool Sportsbook.
Arizona only issues 20 licenses: ten to professional teams and ten to Native American tribes operating casinos. However, licensees are permitted to collaborate with retail and online sportsbook owners, like in the case of BetMGM.
BetMGM’s sportsbooks located at the three different properties of Arizona Gila River will open in time of football season. One will be at State Farm Stadium is planned to open in time for the 2022 NFL season, giving the Phoenix area a total of four sportsbooks.
