Phil Ivey is counted among the greatest poker players of all time, and the legend shows why. The hall of Famer recently won the 25k buy-in Super High Roller Bowl Europe to score 408,000 dollars.

The player made a comeback to live tournaments and defeated 48 participants in the high-octane game. The event gathered several well-known players with luck playing a minimal role. Stephen Chidwick, who beat Phil for the title, and Erik Seidel, recent World Series of Poker bracelet winner, were present at the final table.

Despite Stephen’s previous win against Phil, the player did not give an inch to fight back. By the time Stephen clashed with Phil, the latter had already garnered a 4 to 1 chip stack. Thus, Chidwick got the best opportunity to make a comeback in the final hand with A-Q.

Stephen grabbed the opportunity and called all-in. Phil drew K-T and called to flop the top pair and end with two pairs. Stephen still had a chance to draw a straight on the river, but it did not happen, and Phil secured the first place.

Besides the obvious 408,000 dollars for the position, Phil also scored 245 PokerGO Tour points. Despite Phil’s poker stature and relatively young age, the player has avoided live tournaments in recent years. Many believe the player is past his prime, primarily because of the legal battle against Borgata.

The legend fought Borgata over the edge-sorting winnings from years ago. However, the player stated how he has been working on mental health for some time now.

The player’s previous tournament appearance was in 2018 at the 50,000K WSOP Poker Players Championship. With the latest win, the community can hope that the player might back a complete comeback.
